“Give me a child until he is 7 & I will show you the man.” - Aristotle

OverView:

Free Yourself of the Illusion that there is that one true you! It never has & never will!

Get more aware & clear about the person you are & why you are the way you are... so you can start 2 create & invent & live yourself more consciously & intended.

So many times we tell ourselves or other's that we are or aren't a certain way. Other's tell us who or how or what we are. Who or how or what we can or am supposed to be. What 2 expect to get & being able 2 give.

So often it's so much more our mental prison & NOT our actual physical ability that holds us hostage.

2 initiate a change there.... I want 2 broaden your horizon with some markers that make & brake you. You... your hopes & dreams... your happiness & joy & fulfillment. Your purpose & loving contribution & impact.

8 Reasons

So let me introduce you 2 5 Major "Players" in & of your life. Especially if you're NOT already attentive of it.

1. ENCULTURATION

"Enculturation is how a baby becomes a member of thier culture - NOT just learning language, but what to believe, value, & even how 2 feel."

This is the process by which individuals (especially children) learn their group's culture, through experience, observation, & isntruction. It includes learning language, norms, values, religion, & worldview.

It's how we become members of our society.

2. SOCIALIZATION

A broader sociological term than enculturation. It refers 2 the lifelong process of learning norms, behaviours, & roles within a society. Family is usually the orimary agent of socialization, especially early on.

3. TABULA RASA ("Blank Slate")

A philosophical idea (from John Locke) suggesting that humans are born w/o built-in mental content, & that all knowledge comes from experience & perception. While modern science sees humans as having some innate traits, this idea still resonates with how the environment shapes identity.

4. ATTACHMENT & MODELING

In early development, children attach 2 caregivers & begin 2 model their behaviour, language, & emotional responses on them. This modeling forms the basis of their identity & understanding of the world.

5. CONSTRUCTIVE VIEW

Developmental theorists like Lev Vygotsky emphasized that learning & development are social processes, shaped by interaction with more knowledgeable members of the culture - usually parents & caregivers.

cCONCLUSION

-> A human being becomes who they are through enculturation & socialization, shaped by the family, language, religion, & worldview they grow up in. This is a fundamental human characteristic - our nature is 2 be shaped by nurture.

Other Sources of Input & Inspiration:

That human tendency 2 copy & model others can be described in several ways depending on context, but here are some key terms & concepts:

a. SOCIAL IMITATION

A general term that refers 2 the human tendency 2 mimic behaviours, expressions, or actions of others. It's a fundamental part of learning & adaptation.

b. SOCIAL LEARNING

Coined in psychology, especially by Albert Bandura. It refers 2 learning through observation, imitation, & modeling. It's central 2 how children & even adults pick up behaviours, norms, & skills.

c. MIMETIC DESIRE (René Girard)

This is a philosophical & anthropological concept that suggests people desire things NOT inherently, BUT because others desire them. We imitate the desires of others.

d. CONFORMITY

In social psychology, this refers 2 adjusting one's behaviour or thinking 2 align with a group standard. It's about fitting in & is often subconscious.

e. SOCIAL CONTAGION

A phenomenon where emotions, behaviours, or ideas spread through groups as people unconsciously imitate each other. 4 example, laughter or panic can spread socially.

f. MIRROR NEURONS

On a neurological level, humans have mirror neurons that fire both when we act & when we observe the same action performed by others. These likely underpin imitation & empathy.
